Growth in Belfast

‘Growth in Belfast’ was developed from an idea I had when I was doing my last project which was about construction sites in Belfast.

In recent years Belfast has transformed from a city that was torn apart by ‘The Troubles’ to a bright and vibrant city. It is report that in fact Belfast is the happiest city in UK, with an amazing culture, it is also a very affordable city. In ‘The Troubles’ era the population dropped, until 2011 when it started to grow. The growth in economy and its popular social scene have strong connections to its history. This can be seen in this series of photographs.

‘Growth in Belfast’ has allowed my idea to be developed using collage, where two photographs are merged into one photomontage. These images show how Belfast is changing and evolving.
